Search of All the Lost Monad-istas
25 October 2007
Dear Friends of John From
Cincinnati,
You are receiving this email
because you signed an online petition in support of a second season of
the HBO original series, John From Cincinnati (JFC).
Contacting you is part of our
effort to bring together the 3.8 million viewers of JOHN to
convince HBO to continue the story.
We're doing something different than
previous
save HBO shows campaigns.
There is much discussion now within the TV industry about how
and when viewers are watching shows. New ways of creating
content/shows are being considered and tried. We are proposing to work
WITH HBO to explore making JOHN with these new methods. And how, you
might ask, are we doing this....
Our
Full-Page Ad in Variety
On Wednesday 31 October 2007 our full-page ad will
appear in Variety and on Variety.com. To see the ad in development click here. If you
would like to help with the ad come join us on the HBO thread: Our
New Endeavor.
We need grass roots action right now to
spread the word.
We need HBO to know the support for JFC is not going
away and
that it makes sense to give their subscribers what they want (or ex-subscribers if
you've already canceled in protest). At the same time the Variety ad
runs we will be
sending HBO another flurry of our attention in the form of emails,
letters, postcards, and phone calls to ask HBO to work with us to find
a way to bring back John From
Cincinnati. And so we
need
your help to make a big impact...
What You Can Do...
We especially need your help to contact the lost monadistas (Friends of John
>From Cincinnati). We have put together a list of things you can
do: What You Can
Do - Full List. Use
these tips to ask others to at least join our
mailing list and sign the petition as these
numbers help us justify our position. And direct them to SaveJFC.net to find out more about
the show and the efforts to save it.
You can
forward
this email to everyone in your address book and ask them to
pass it on to theirs!
Can JOHN Really Return?
Some
people have said that it will never happen. The sets have been struck
and the actors are taking other work. Our response: If "24" can do
one-day-in-the-life each season with two or three story-years between
seasons, then JOHN can come back in a couple years and do another
season of a
couple-weeks-in-the-lives.
There are enough viewers to save the show but we need your
help to find them. You must do what you can...
Even if you don't yet
see the end game... it's time to get back
IN the game!
Yes, John From
Cincinnati can get back in the water!
Our History in
Brief
Our community developed online
to persuade HBO to continue the story of JOHN. At first
the effort was scattered with many individual efforts from postcards
campaigns, sending teddy bears, emails and letters, making phone calls
and even personal appearances at HBO headquarters.
In September 2007, groups from
two
different JOHN bulletin boards, TheSnugHarborMotel.com and HBO
Forums,
got together and started a campaign and fund-raising drive to take out
a full-page ad in The Hollywood Reporter. This ad ran on Friday 28
September 2007 and can be seen here: http://www.savejfc.net/ad.html along
with it's companion YouTube video. The effort was a great success but
did not get HBO to change their minds. What we did get was a letter to
one of our members which can be seen here: HBO.pdf It is
not a hopeful letter, but we are not deterred.
Please send pictures of the John From Cincinnati Halloween
costumes to: admin@savejfc.net
If you haven't donated before to the SaveJFC efforts/ad, please
consider doing so now... Every little bit helps! Unused donations
will be given to WildCoast.net, the organization for which Mitch Yost
made public service announcements.
