The Hollywood Reporter Ad & Press Release

26 September 2007
It's Been An Exciting Week!

The support, creativity and thoughtfulness of all the people who have contributed to this effort has been extraordinary.  And I want to personally thank everyone for their help in getting us this far!  You are all amazing and inspiring.  And I thank you from the bottom of my heart. (Even if you were just here on orders from your bird.)

Before I dive into telling you all that's happened I want to talk to you about what is still to be done...

1. DIGG IT  First, please go to the front page and click the "DIGG IT" button and follow any instructions.  If we can get over 50 diggs in 24 hours we will be bumped to the front page of the Digg network which will get our message out to even more people.

2. TELL EVERYONE you can think of to call, write, post cards, mail or whatever and tell HBO that we want another season.  This was the whole point of doing the ad was to tell HBO that there are many many people who want the show back.  We will have their attention this weekend and now is the time to drive the point home.  HBO contact information is on the bottom of this email.

Make a copy of the press release and send or email to your local papers and media outlets and tell them your story about how JFC has effected you and why you want it back.  Include anything that might positively attract attention...  Like a picture of you in a monad t-shirt, or your monad jack-o-lantern (yes, there is a picture of it on the press page).  Then follow-up with a phone call and tell them when you are available.  The more people we can get to act to contact HBO the closer we are to another season of JOHN.

4.  ALSO, if you are interviewed
please reply to this email with the information.  Send a link if it's online, or a copy of the text of an article or better yet a scanned version from print media.  I want to put every one on the site to add credibility to the campaign.

The press release was professionally distributed to news rooms and online news sources early Monday morning. Here are just some of the online sources where it was published:
Site name: Yahoo! URL:
Site name: URL:
Site name: URL:
Site name: MarketWatch URL:
Site name: Publicity Insider URL:

And the media response was almost immediate.  Many of the contact people have already reported being contacted and interviewed.  And there has already been a television segment that ran last night.  Jill the creator of the San Diego based was interviewed by Channel 8 news KFMB from "The Snug Harbor Motel" parking lot.  Watch the video here.

The final version of the ad has been submitted to The Hollywood Reporter and will run in this Friday's edition.  Friday's are their largest distribution with both domestic and international markets.  And, don't worry about what it's called... HR is considered both a "magazine" and a "newspaper".  It doesn't matter what it's called, just know that the Friday 28 Sept. 2007 edition is the one we are in.

Print your own copy of the ad by going to our ad page where there is a link to the actual full-page ad graphic.  If you go to Kinko's or a similar printer who has internet access, you can downloaded it right from the site and have it printed in any quality or size you want.

To purchase a copy of Friday's Hollywood Reporter you will be able to find them all over Los Angeles and New York news stands.

Here is the list of all the places to buy.

Or send a check for $8.95, made out to "The Hollywood Reporter" to:
The Hollywood Reporter Library
ATTN: Back Issues
5055 Wilshire Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA 90036

Though there is a rough cut of the video on the ad page, it needs to be updated to match the ad.  This should be completed in the next day or so.  If you have some talent in this area and want to contribute ideas, photos, video clips, for this or another video please go the Save John From Cincinnati Video Production Area.

Current Total: $4,918.23
We made it!  The purchasing of the ad was $4,400.00 and the professional press release distributor was $399.00 for a grand total of $4,799.00 or $119.25 more than was needed.  Unless some sort of unforeseen expense arises (which of course we will all be able to talk about before doing anything), then this remainder will be given to, the organization for which Mitch Yost did his public service announcements

I will be leaving the donate buttons up until Monday 01 October which is when I'll be sending WildCoast the remainder of the donations.

And as always....  Work here, Cass.
